Accessibility

We build for the families we serve, which means building for everyone.

What we aim for

This site and our family and staff portals aim to meet WCAG 2.2 Level AA. In practice that means:

  • Text contrast is measured, not guessed. Every colour pair on this site was checked.
  • Everything works with a keyboard alone, and focus is always visible.
  • Every image has alternative text, and every form field has a real label.
  • Buttons and links are big enough to tap.
  • Nothing animates if your device asks for reduced motion.
  • Text can be zoomed to 200% without the layout breaking.
  • Pages read cleanly on a phone at 320px wide.
  • Each page says which language it is in, so screen readers use the right voice.
  • Lesson videos can carry captions, and you can turn them on in the player.

How we check

Before each update goes live, an automated test (axe) checks our most-used public, portal and admin pages, in English and Spanish, on a phone and a computer. We also test by keyboard and with a screen reader. Automated tests do not catch everything, which is why we want to hear from you.

Plain language

We also treat reading level as an accessibility question. Our public pages aim at roughly a fourth-grade reading level, and every clinical term is explained in the same sentence it first appears in. There is a word list for anything we missed.

What we know is not there yet

  • Some training videos do not have captions yet. We are adding them. If you need one now, ask and we will send the words in writing.
  • Some older PDF handouts may not read well with a screen reader. Ask and we will send the same information as plain text.
  • A few quiz questions in the Spanish courses are still in English while they are being translated.

If something does not work for you

Tell us and we will work on it, and we will tell you when it is done. Email info@datadrivenedu.com or call (951) 440-6220. We answer within two business days. If you need information from this site in another format (large print, read aloud, or over the phone) just ask.
